#fully scaled
Fins up fully
Having five days to fish and film on a prolific fishery like Nicholls lake it's no surprise that a few gems turned up. I lost count of the scattered/fully scaled carp i had but i didn't forget the really special catches amongst them and this is one of them. I can only imagine how fantastic this is going to look in another five years when it'll most likely be twice the size.

Summer always comes
Summer always comes as they say so even now at the start of winter with the frosts and the cold rain i am looking forward once again to those long barmy days. This year between April and November i managed to spend two or three nights every week by the bank. In that time i caught almost a hundred carp and now with winter upon us these summer sessions where i did so well and had so much fun are coming to the fore. So over the next few months join me as summer comes to my films and we relive those moments.
#tench
TheTenchCatcher
Back from the Woolpacks lake 8 after another interesting and busy session. The weather had been lush all week raising the lake temperature from 57 to 59 degrees F and the shallows looked on for a carp and indeed i had one within the hour but then the tench came and came. The final score at the end of the session was eight tench netted between 6 to 8 pounds and seven dropped. The dropped fish were all to the size 6 rig and the netted ones a size 8. The netted ones were retained and then popped into the stock pond as per syndicate instructions, so i wont be catching them again!
#the lodge
Luxury fishing
Having the lodge is well handy especially for short sessions when i am traveling light stalking. No need to bring a cooker or even a chair. I can just retire to the lodge for a quick cupper and a rest. I plan on making as much use of it as possible as i am sure it'll make the fishing easier and a lot more fun!

A magical trip
For some years i have planned a very special trip down this very special little river and each year i promise myself the same thing. Get a canoe and go. There is miles of wondrous winding river and countryside to meander down with untouched fishing and carp to be found. There is so much adventure and unknown out there, still. The Woolpack lake 7 - part two
With the cold spring and the knowledge that the lake would be busy early on i decided to delay my second visit to Lake 7 until the end of May. Decades of experience has taught me that the carp in early spring don't all become active at the same time. Sure the few that are active can be caught and often quiet quickly. But eventually the blanks start to pile up for everyone as the pressure builds. The bait continues to go in and a surplus occurs so it just gets harder, however as the water warms there comes a point when all the carp are active. It's at this moment your chances improve and it's time to pack the car.

Give it a spin
This is the final test batch of The Berry which i have just received fresh from the manufacturer and it's dead right. The last batch caught for me first time out, all it needed was a slight tweak to the level of attractors and a small change to the basemix. They have done a first class job and so tonight i am going to pop out and give it a spin. The weather is looking unsettled so if i can get the location right and find a hole in the weed i reckon my chances are good. As soon as i get back from fishing i will get the Popups, Hard hookers, Paste and glug sorted and it should be on the shelves shortly.
#park farm
Park farm part six
It's half twelve in the afternoon and i have been putting out mixers for an hour or so hoping to get the carp interested however conditions change and so does the session.

Park farm part five
It's my second session on Park farm one and the lake is packed out. However there is no one in the swim on the end of the wind so i quickly jump in. After amassing around twenty runs the previous week i am expecting to do well again. Visits from Gordon Owen, manager of the on-site tackle shop and 'Shaun of the dead' yet again keep my spirits up as i begin to haul.
