Park farm pt 6
It's half twelve in the afternoon and i have been putting out mixers for an hour or so hoping to get the carp interested however conditions change and so does the session.

After a few nice fish during the night and that linear early morning i settle back to feed my empty stomach. Second breakfast, Porridge. Fishing the middle area of the lake paid off well and also allowed me to rest the reeds and tree line on the far bank. Tactics however must continue to be revised if i am to keep converting pickups into fish on the bank. With this in mind i set about cracking out a few more including one that had been eating my bait since i arrived.

Bait Making ~ hookbaits
We take three of the recipes from the film Bait making ~ Recipes and produce Hard hookers, Corkball popups, Popups and Balanced hookers. Plus an old favorite for surface fishing 'Floater cake'. Loads of tips and tricks, easy to follow recipes that bring results.

Situated on an old army base (39th Eng reg) i fished it back in the early 90's mostly days with my son Marcus. It didnt have a large stock of carp but i caught most of them. Eventually they all grew up to be much bigger. At the time I fished it i had the place to myself all of the time and i spent many happy days there with my son.

A busy session
I spent four days last week on Frisby lakes in Leicestershire. Arriving mid afternoon i spent some time talking to Chris the fishery manager before setting out in his canoe to explore the lake's island and all the inlets for an hour. Once that was done we took a drive around the lake to look for a likely swim. The Wind was coming from the north West and the south east corner looked ripe for it. Furnished with a map of the lake's contours it wasn't hard to find where to put a bait and half an hours work with the marker rod had the three spots chosen. Three handfuls of Vanilla spice went out onto each rod but before i could finish off cooking the steak paninis for Chris and i the right hand rod on the shallower spot was off and the first of a dozen commons was in the back of the net. It was a busy session to say the least with 16 fish coming to the net. Successful method was my semi-fixed-running-rig (http://thecarpcatcher.co.uk/thecarpcatchers_blog.php?post=229), 10 inches of 20lb mainline with a 2 inch hair and a size 8 or 6 Specialist Sharpened Hooks korda choddy (https://www.facebook.com/specialist.sharpened.hooks) with a 15mm Vanilla Spice boilie. River Carp Quest 2017
Tomorrow morning see's the start of my river sessions. When i first fished the river cam in 2004 i didn't know if there were any carp in the river i just went down and had a go and lucky for me I caught first time out. This spurred me on and over the September/October of that year i did three day session a week landing a further dozen fish to 20lb+. All pristine fish, all different scaly and wondrous. River fish are different, hard to find and easy to catch, unless you're fishing a well known spot of course then it's the other way around just like in a lake. It will be tough and i will be catching few fish if anything at all but then i did that last year on a stocked lake and paid £450 for the privilege! Pic: My first carp from the river Cam in 2004 @18lb+. Really hard fighting and most likely never been caught before.

River Cam Carp Quest 2011 pt 7
Time is the key to everything and as a film maker i can bend it, stretch it and stop it. I can even go back in time. As the poet William Henry Davies once wrote; 'What is this life if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare. No time to stand beneath the boughs And stare as long as sheep or cows.' So here we are 5 years on from this day all caught on film live on camera The capture of The Linear from the river Cam, one of my finest moments i think :-)

The lake that Mary and Malins came from before they were made famous in Wraysbury it's not far from the end of Heathrow airport runway and is the noisiest place i have ever fished. However it's full of carp and made a nice change from St Ives Big Fjords where i had been fishing for the whole summer. There your lucky to see a fish let alone catch one ;-) Places like these can give you your confidence a real boost as well as letting you try out things and learn.

Pingles pool - Last of the Cuckoo's
Pingles Pool is an old clay pool situated in rural fenland and it is full of beautiful, fat Mirrors and Commons. It has been twenty years since I last fished and laid eyes upon this lovely little pool and in those following years many fish had been added and grown on with the olduns. The lilies had taken over all of the shallow margins and bars while some of the old mighty trees had crashed into the lake margins. Renowned for it's moods and the ever-surprising fenland weather the pool has an atmosphere all of it's own. Let the adventure begin!
