Give it a spin
This is the final test batch of The Berry which i have just received fresh from the manufacturer and it's dead right. The last batch caught for me first time out, all it needed was a slight tweak to the level of attractors and a small change to the basemix. They have done a first class job and so tonight i am going to pop out and give it a spin. The weather is looking unsettled so if i can get the location right and find a hole in the weed i reckon my chances are good. As soon as i get back from fishing i will get the Popups, Hard hookers, Paste and glug sorted and it should be on the shelves shortly.

A magical trip
For some years i have planned a very special trip down this very special little river and each year i promise myself the same thing. Get a canoe and go. There is miles of wondrous winding river and countryside to meander down with untouched fishing and carp to be found. There is so much adventure and unknown out there, still. Map locations
For sometime i have had an App on my site using Google maps but his one is better. As i progress i will add more locations, information, pictures and films. So when you ask me where abouts is the lake i fish? i will be able to send you a link. Easy!

A loss to fishing
I have fished this lake for a number of years now and have caught many of the carp that inhabit it, much of my time being spent doing day sessions with the occasional over-nighter. With depths that average around five feet it warms up quick in the spring and shuts down equally as quick in the winter. The stock consists of mirrors and commons around mid-doubles to mid-twenties with a few ornamental fish turning up occasionally, so a bite can be on the cards most days. With a lockable gate, a peaceful tranquil atmosphere and a good stock of fish it seems like heaven however this unfortunately is not the case. The club that owns the lake seem to pay little attention to it, i have never seen a bailiff there and the lock on the gate is always broken. The local farmer uses the access track to service his fields as well as the track alongside the lake which has destroyed the track to the point where driving a car down is almost impossible preventing access. This has meant that few anglers now visit to fish it and with this lack of use and more importantly watchful eyes has come the fly tipping and unwanted visits from non-anglers. The litter is building up, trees have even been cut down to build fires and I have to say that i don’t feel safe there which is one reason i rarely fish it nowadays, especially on my own. The shame is that the club owns the lake and unless the club changes its approach and attitude things will only get worse and that is a great shame and a loss to fishing.

Fishing at your best
You know when you're fishing at your best and it's not just the results that indicate it but the feeling you get. My recent trip to Linfords Alder lake was typical of this feeling and so is this film. 'You only get one life' has been available for download now for a year. If you haven't already purchased it then you're missing out! One of those dream sessions and waters where everything flows to the inevitable result, an amazing fish in the back of the net. Forgotten fish
Keeping a diary is a handy thing, especially if like me you sometimes need to look back. It was while i was looking through my pictures from 2008 when i spotted this fish which i had completely forgotten i had caught! The filedate said 08-09-2008 but that's all. However back in 2008 i was still keeping diaries and so a quick look at the back of the diary for 2008 revealed all. September 8th 2008 was a Monday and on the Saturday previous i had pre-baited the swim with 6Kg Hemp, 3kG 15mm pellets and 4Kg of Berry boilies. Prebaiting like this had gone on for 2 weeks already and i had managed three fish, all to short 2-4 hour sessions with just one rod and the minimum of kit. Looking in my diary for that morning the entry is brief. 'Fish rolled over spot when i arrived at 7.30am. 8.30am 26.12lb common. Left at 9.30 and baited up with 3kg Hemp, 2Kg pellets 1Kg berry boilies'. So this year i am going to start keeping a diary again, that way i can look back with just a turn of a page and perhaps, not forget any more fish?

Pingles Pool - A Dream Session
Winter was upon us without the usual autumnal low pressure systems giving us those wonderful high winds and racing grey Skies. With high pressure and constant sunshine sport had died on Pingles pool and getting a bite had been very tough indeed. Then like manna from heaven a huge low pressure system moved in from the south west and blew the hell outta the trees leaving them stripped. The high winds and rain continued all week until the Sunday morning when i awoke to find sunshine and calm, time to get the rods out!

Park farm part six
It's half twelve in the afternoon and i have been putting out mixers for an hour or so hoping to get the carp interested however conditions change and so does the session.

Tighten up
In some of the later episodes of The Woolpack lake 8 it's been noticed that i have changed over from my Delkim ES bobbins to my old set of Fox Swingers and there is good reason, tightening up. If you have read the article Kick-Back (http://thecarpcatcher.co.uk/thecarpcatchers_blog.php?post=425) you will know that the weight of the bobbin is important in the setup as it helps hold everything tight and keeps it all in balance. Another important point about the Fox swingers is the way the clip works and the fact that they show up drop backs far better than any other bobin i have used. Again with the kick-Back setup this is important because the first indication you will often get is a drop back as the tension in the line is released on a pickup.
