Understanding carp
If anything the underwater footage of Valley should have dramatically changed your view of this small intimate little pool. It should also confirm that carp do indeed hibernate during the colder parts of the year. http://thecarpcatcher.co.uk/thecarpcatchers_blog.php?post=163 It's not the first time that i have pointed out that the hardest waters to fish are often the smallest. Carp more than any other fish learn about their environment and can associate any change with danger. The one thing i have noticed on Valley is this 'sensitivity' to their environment. It's tangible, their posture and the way they switch off or just avoid areas when your about. Valley pool has given me a great chance to do what i love and that is to study the carp. I truly believe that this is paramount to becoming 'the complete angler'. Results and numbers don't matter in the end as you forget them. Experiences with carp, close up, learning their secrets and their ways stay with you forever.

Glabbacher Bruch
I thought it best to get this post up now as i am being asked where i am going to fish in Germany. Glabbacher Bruch is just over the german border eleven kilometers from Venlo Holland. For more information go here to look at the map: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.353398,6.2656468,15z and here for my previous post http://thecarpcatcher.co.uk/thecarpcatchers_blog.php?post=306

Alder lake playlist
Even though i fish and film these sessions. Edit and re-edit, preview and release i still like to go back and rewatch them over again. You never take it all in on the first watch, you can easily miss things. For me however it's not just about that but also reliving the moments, happy days spent chasing my dreams.

Eight years on
We are just a few months off my eighth year doing this and in that time i have kept the way i film and edit almost unchanged. The quality has improved tremendously from the tiny 360p to full HD 1080p. The old ten minute limit on blogs has long passed. Millions of views from you, watched from all over the world and you continue to do so. The only change this year is the titles, i have spruced them up a bit ;-) However i wont be over celebrating i'll just keep them coming same as ever. Going my own way, seeking adventure, having fun but most importantly, keeping it real. Cheers!

Fluoro K-LO
Something that's been missing from my bait box recently are these, fluoro popups. What with getting the full range of The Berry sorted it slipped my mind and now of course is when i need them the most. The weather over the last six weeks has been hot with days when there isn't a breath of wind and it's at times like these that an inquisitive bite can get you that bonus fish. So with the weather looking like it's going to continue hot they're sure to get used. You can get them here http://thecarpcatcher.co.uk/bait-k-lo.php

The Woolpack lake 8 - part 19
So here we are 19 sessions on, from February through to October with the last session on the Woolpack's lake 8. I did do a few more after this but blanked and we have seen enough of them eh? So lets finish on a good note with all the usual effort put in to make a complete session. This is the last episode of the current series, but i will be back, i still have a few to catch...

Learning time
It's the first week of july, six weeks after my last session on the woolpacks lake 7. The lakes have all been closed for spawning and the change is dramatic. The trees and bankside which were just starting to fill out in May are now heavy with summer foliage. The water is considerably warmer and the carp much more active, split up into small groups and no longer shoaled. This is the time when it starts to get really tough, with an abundance of natural food and the bombardment from the bankside there is a surplus. The long hot summer days and clear skies also shorten the feeding periods lessening chances. It's scratching time, but it's also learning time too, that's the one thing you can always do no matter what the carp or the weather are up to.

Pushing the limits
This picture was taken in 1991, that's my son Marcus who is now 25 years old wearing my hat. As you can see i started fishing with my rods up over 25 years ago now so it's not something that's new to me.Things like this can be just fashion of course but as i said a few posts ago i consider using the the rod setup also as part of the trap by enabling the rig and the lead system to perform differently. Just recently over the last few sessions i have been pushing this to the limit and with some astonishing success. However as with anything you push to the limit you always find the edge and so have i. So this week i will be taking all that i have learned through my successes as well as my mistakes and dialing it back a bit, fine tuning it. This for me is what fishing is really all about, finding a method, getting it to work and hopefully bagging a few before it all changes.

Free film download
For some time i have been using this free software for downloading films. It occurred to me recently that this was a much better way of you getting my films than waiting for me. Since the films are already uploaded i really do not need to do all the extra work of uploading to my host and building all the download stuff, its all there already. Visit the webpage and download it. http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/products/dvd/Free-YouTube-Download.htm Make SURE you do a CUSTOM installation and uncheck all the boxes if you dont want other software installed (in fact do this with all software). Happy downloading!
