Much of my first session on Valley was spent moving around trying to get to know the place as quickly as i could. Although i only spent a night in each swim i saw plenty and the carp were being obliging by showing themselves often. Chris Yates once said something like 'if you stand really still they wont notice you' and he is of course right. On Valley you find yourself doing a lot of 'Standing still' as the carp drift around literally within inches of the bank. This is not gravel pit fishing, this is Cambridgeshire Chalk piting at it's finest.
