It's an odd thing but as i get older i seem to be seeking out what i experienced when i was younger, fishing wise that is. When i first started carping in 1980 there were considerably less carp and carpers. So waters where no-one ever fished were easy enough to find. After my first years apprenticeship i branched out to some of the waters in the fens, little clay pools where i caught my first Twenty. Gravel pits including Drayton fen, Block fen, Smithy fen etc. All around Mepel and the like. Out to Soham and beyond seeking out anywhere i though a carp might live. All deserted always on my own. So here we are again on a complex that has lakes stuffed with carp and i choose the ones with little or no carp.... I had to do it sometime so why not now when i have the chance? The only drawback of course is that i might end up catching very few fish. In todays world thats a fail, or is it? I hope that through these films you will see why i choose to fish the lakes i did. Understand that what drove me on was the desire for adventure and the unknown. Perhaps like me you will see that not all things are equal, not even success.
