Something that has been really handy this past summer is my weed rake. Now you can buy these from the tackle shop but the one i use is homemade. A quick sortie through my bits box came up with the required parts from an old cupboard and bed. It weighs 2.1 ounces casts like a dream and clears weed in and around spots beautifully with the minimum of disturbance. The amazing thing about this little bit of kit is that it opens up spots like never before. It allows you to fish them much more effectively by not only clearing the spot to ensure good presentation but also clearing a path to the spot to allow for good line lay. This is where most presentations fall down. It's no good to you if the rig is sitting pretty and the line showing up like a barge rope. You need to hide the line too and this little bit of kit really helps that job along.
