Just got an email from Andy the woolpack owner, lakes 5 & 6 are closed as the carp have started to spawn so not only will this add to the pressure on lake 7 but it also signals that within a few weeks, lake 7 & 8 will follow. Andy always closes the lakes at first signs and this can be simply the fact that they are shoaling up, moving into the spawning areas etc. So there is always plenty of time between the close of a lake and the start of actual spawning. I'll be off tomorrow if i dont get an email and since the weather is looking cool and overcast it's not likely that they will spawn this week in 7 or 8 as they are much deeper lakes than 5, 6. However it could be a short session so if it is, i will be sure to get my camera out and try to 'catch' them on film.
