In 1995 I had a young family so much of my fishing was opportunistic lasting just a few hours and this is the result of one such trip on a sunny July day. I remember the day well and the feeling of complete satisfaction after just a few hours spent alone by it's secluded banks catching this carp.
Almost all of these little Fenland pools contain carp such as this, old scaly characters that haven’t grown huge on a diet of boilies but have grown naturally on the food available. How the Carp came to be stocked is anyone's guess but I suspect a combination of stocking by fishing clubs and the occasional flood from the local Lodes (small straight fenland drains) helped the cause.
This gem came to free lined floater cake tactics after about an hour of trying to tempt it. Something i learned in my youth at similar little pools and i am sure will stand me in good stead for the rest of my angling days.
