This week saw me return to a lake i have only ever fished a handful of times, three short day sessions back in 2003 and two overnight sessions in 2012. I did alright as well landing two fish, one on my first session in and one on the last session in 2012 so to be honest i felt like this was a lucky water for me especially when you consider it's size and the fact it only has a handful of fish in it. This week i only had one night but the weather and the carp made it easy all being in the same place on the end of a Fenland hoolie. Within thirty seconds of standing in the swim a beast rolled and then another and four of so hours later this rolled into the net. At 20.12lb it's not the biggest in the lake but it's still a real old Fenland beast.
