As I pointed out in a previous post The Gault lake is an SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) and as such cannot be altered which means it has some of the most difficult paths and swims going. Given the difficulty of terrain and the distance required to push the kit i'm not figuring on night fishing it anytime soon but I am making a big effort to do day sessions.
Arriving just after first light and staying till as late in the day as I can I've already managed to fish two swims and get a fish under my belt, i'm learning all the time.
To be honest finding areas to fish hasn't been a problem as the ones I have identified just scream carp at me. I'm not worried about bait or tactics either as they are both taken care of with trusted answers, the problem is the Journey in and out.
The bank that I am fishing at the moment has the worst paths and the worst hill I have ever had to push a barrow up. There is absolutely no way on earth that I could ever get a fully ladened barrow down it, let alone up.
So the kit has to go, No rod bags, No rod holdall, No tackle box (just a butter tub with the essentials), Pre-tied rigs, No spares of any kind except leads and a few clips, everything I could do without had to go. My JRC cot is way to big and needs replacing for a frame cot and I am defo thinking of only carrying two rods because that would cut down the kit a huge amount.
I need to be mobile and shake off as much as I can but the tea kit is staying, at least for now.
