In 1952 Richard Walker caught a record Carp from Redmire pool using a split cane rod he built himself, the MKIV.
This was the very first purpose built carp rod.
That same year he commissioned B. James & Son to build the rods for him.
Over the years the rod went through a few small changes until they ceased building them in 1966.
The MKIV split cane carp rod is like no other and has a beautiful action that allows you to play the carp with ease.
If the fish pulls harder the rod just bends more, I coupled my rod with the iconic vintage Mitchell 300 reel, as recommended by Richard Walker himself.
This is the first time this rod has ever seen action being in mint, unused condition.
