I managed a couple of day sessions at Cawcutts this week in search of a bite but the most valuable thing was spotting the carp and working out what to do next. There is a patten and even though it's an obvious one I missed it up until now. Temperature at this time of year governs the way the carp behave more than anything else. They are acclimatising to the drop in temperatures and during this transition they will seek out the most comfortable places to ride it out, only then I believe will they feed more freely.
Runs have been getting noticeably later in the day with other anglers catching a fair few in the dark hours. This also has to do with temperatures as they are completely reliant on their environment unlike humans who can modify it.
So where to find the carp? And if they are there will they feed or are they just holed up there. I had some clues this week so next week if I can get down a couple of times I'll be switching my tactics to hopefully suit and give me a few more bites.
As for this week I did manage to get one of the smaller residents but it came to changes made.
So next week we return with a fresh outlook and hope in our pocket. As ever I'll let you know how I'm getting on.
