I did a lot of sessions on the Gault lake early on in the spring but by the beginning of June I like many others had pulled off. The Carp had mostly migrated out of the lake and into the river Great Ouse but we couldn't fish for them because of the close season.
I had two-three weeks to go before my quest for a Great Ouse carp could start so I decided to fish my local ponds and to make it more fun I'd take it easy and just do a few hours here and there with the MKIV carp rod.
I'd taken on two big challenges in 2019, the Gault lake and the river Great Ouse. Neither of them are easy places to fish so a little time off from the constant pressure that always comes from this kind of fishing was welcome.
Soon enough every waking moment would be spent thinking about, traveling too and fishing the Great ouse.
