It’s a wonderfully blowy mild evening in October 2022 as I sit here in the kitchen writing this. My last film release was on the 27th December 2020, almost two years ago now.
You may recall in the spring of 2020 a pandemic hit the world and everything changed. Fishing during 2020 was a stop start affair, I had a ticket for a lake and was fishing and filming then I became unwell. This lasted for several months and put a stop to all my fishing.
By the end of that year I had released all the films I had made up to then. The last, ‘Forty years fishing’ was a seminal film series for me and during that winter and into the next year 2021 I thought a lot about what I had achieved in the fourteen years since I started filming and the forty years I had spent in total fishing for Carp.
It was time to call it a day for the filming, I'd said and done all I had wanted to, I was immensely proud of it and was ready. What started out as just a way to store a video diary turned into something much bigger, it all became very personal as people followed me over the years, kept in touch, made me smile with their comments and support.
TheCarpCatcher gave me something I had never considered, a community.
If you visit my YouTube channel check out the comments and you will see as the films went on how the names keep popping up. The encouragement and kind words all kept me going and you kept it up all those years, so thanks.
The pleasure was all mine.
