Alder lake has mysteries and that is a rare thing nowadays. Drained, netted and ravaged by summer floods most of the original stock are long gone, only a few are left. You can only use two rods, you have to barrow your gear over fields and you hardly ever see a carp. The lush green grass growing in the unfished swims indicates clearly that no-one fishes it and its easy to understand why. There are on Linford much, much higher stocked waters within walking distance of Alder lake, far easier propositions where you can drive your car up to your swim. But Alder is peaceful and mysterious and no-one really knows what's left in there and it is this that draws me like a magnet!
