This week saw a definite change in the fishing with day time runs becoming less frequent and the carp obviously eating less. With water temperatures dropping rapidly the cut off point for efficient protein digestion will be within the next few weeks so a lower protein higher carb bait is required. Less is more and with a high carb bait you can still carry on feeding at a reasonable rate whilst using sticks to boost the trap as well. K-LO will still produce as it relies on soluble fish proteins on a high carb/fishmeal base that requires less digestion, however I will be looking to improve the mix for winter if needed. Here is one of the fish from lake 8 at the Woolpack to fall to K-LO so far, an orig 1977 stock fish 'The one-eyed fully', it liked the bait so much that I have netted it twice! Successful method was my standard bottom bait rig, my semi-fixed-running-rig lead system and an 18mm K-LO boilie.
