I fished this place as a lad fifty years ago and in that time it's changed little except for the willows on the left that have now grown on. It was always a place we were drawn to as lads and on occasion so where the fish. Gudgeon back then with the odd pristine half pound roach was the quarry but nowadays it's one that's much more elusive.
There is no doubt that carp swim up and down all the stretches of river I have visited over the last three weeks but there is so much river and so few carp if you spot one it's like winning the lottery.
It's a fact that most of the time this year I will be fishing off of instinct rather than information or sightings and these will almost certainly consist of short evening sessions after work. I don't expect to catch too many fish unless I get fortunate so to increase my chances i'll be making plenty of trips. Eventually of course I hope to get lucky, but then nothing that's worth anything comes easy.
