It has to be said that the hardest thing about fishing this pool is the journey in and the journey out. The old concrete fenland drove that gives you access is 1.3 miles long and has 'bomb craters' along its entire length. Now some people use the word 'pothole' but that would be an understatement as most of these are well capable of taking out an exhaust or a sump and you cannot avoid them. Each one has to be carefully navigated, add to that water and mud and you have a recipe for disaster as some have sadly found out.
So navigating this drove can take time and concentration mixed in with some heart stopping, underside scrapping moments and it was only when I acquired my Suzuki 4x4 that I dared venture back because last time in my van, I almost didn't make it out.
So with all that said this is the first session of many, and it couldn't have gone better ;-)
