Last week I spent two days on the Gault lake. Arriving about six am in the morning and leaving around three pm, probably the best period to be on any lake.
The weather this week was with me too but the fish weren't. It became more evident from the lack of activity (catching bream and liners) that the fish were elsewhere, all of em.
After packing up I went for a walk and this is usually when I bump into other anglers. At the moment this is where most of my information is coming from and my thoughts were confirmed by a old regular of the lake.
"All the fish are spawning and the carp and gorging themselves on it in the out of bounds area mate" he said, and he was right of course.
This lake most likely won't really switch on again for some time and I'm thinking there are obviously good times to be there and not so good times.
Being connected to the river system of the fens really doesn't help and it's this that seems to govern much of the carps whereabouts.
I'm piecing it together :-)
