It's said that location is a key art to fishing and that of course, will always be true. Finding the fish and the best areas to angle for them is essential if you want to be consistent and successful. Of course learning this art takes time and although you can watch countless videos and read numerous articles on the subject, there is no substitute for actual angling experience.
If you are fishing a hard water with few fish then this key aspect becomes more important than ever. It's the difference between a good season and a poor one, but there is a big catch. On many fisheries these days location often plays no part at all, except to tell you that your in the wrong place. This is the way it is, because most fisheries are busy, even mid-week and you might have little choice where you can fish.
In this situation you cannot put your theories into practice or try out anything new because let's face it, you're scratching. So before you go off to these kinds of waters it's a good idea to have some practice first to test out if your ideas are correct. Places like Crystal lakes are perfect for this, it's full of carp and you are bound to catch one or two, however if your theories are correct you can catch a lot more.
This way you learn, because sitting on a hard lake in the wrong swim, blanking, isn't going to teach you a damn thing.
