Having spent the first three sessions moving around the lake getting to know the place I decide to spend the next few in just one swim. For various reasons I decided to continue with day session fishing but since it's a busy fishery getting into a swim on consecutive days could be a problem. So I identified a few swims that got less attention for whatever reason at that time and this is the first one, the Channel swim.
The Channel swim gives you access to the closed south bank as well as the area between the main part of the lake with the islands and the smaller west bay. It's a high traffic area because when the carp are passing through it they get squeezed into a relatively small area. With no swims on the opposite bank you also have command of the entire area. However even after a few sessions fishing in the bay I realised that although it had some fish in it all the time, it was only in certain conditions that it gave you a really good chance of a bite. Time of day and temperature played their part, but it was an easterly wind direction that really switched the bay on.
