I use hookbaits to do various things and to compliment the rig i am using. Once the carp have decided to eat your bait then all thats left is to ensure your hookbait works as it should. Balanced hookers and popups lend themselves nicely to this. Having the bait fly further into the carps mouth when it sucks gives you a better chance of pricking them when they move or attempt to rid themselves of it. So i concentrate on getting my hookbaits and rigs to work together, as they should, with a fish on the other end, hooked.
