I spent four days last week on Frisby lakes in Leicestershire. Arriving mid afternoon I spent some time talking to Chris the fishery manager before setting out in his canoe to explore the lake's island and all the inlets for an hour. Once that was done we took a drive around the lake to look for a likely swim.
The Wind was coming from the north West and the south east corner looked ripe for it. Furnished with a map of the lake's contours it wasn't hard to find where to put a bait and half an hours work with the marker rod had the three spots chosen. Three handfuls of Vanilla spice went out onto each rod but before I could finish off cooking the steak paninis for Chris and I the right hand rod on the shallower spot was off and the first of a dozen commons was in the back of the net.
It was a busy session to say the least with 16 fish coming to the net. Successful method was my semi-fixed-running-rig (http://thecarpcatcher.co.uk/thecarpcatchers_blog.php?post=229), 10 inches of 20lb mainline with a 2 inch hair and a size 8 or 6 Specialist Sharpened Hooks korda choddy (https://www.facebook.com/specialist.sharpened.hooks) with a 15mm Vanilla Spice boilie.
